Bangladesh
From July to September in 1998, heavy rains fell into the Ganges, Meghna and Brahmaputra rivers, and excessive amounts of ice melted in the Himalayas as the sea-level rose. In Bangladesh, water covered two thirds of the land's mass. Thirty million people were affected and twenty million were made homeless.
