Indonesia: Orangutan

The rainforests of Borneo and Sumatra are the orangutan's last remaining natural habitat but they are being destroyed by illegal logging, clearance by fire for palm oil plantations and gold mining. The murder of orangutan mothers continues and babies are sold into the illegal pet trade. Orphans are rescued from abusive domestic or commercial environments such as nightclubs, and most are very ill when they arrive at the Orphaned Orangutan Education and Care Center in Borneo.
